The University of Mississippi is seeking an experienced leader and student services advocate for the UM-DeSoto and UM-Grenada regional campuses located in north Mississippi.  
 
This administrative position directs the regional campus and provides leadership in enrollment management and the recruiting process. Candidates will have experience building and maintaining beneficial relationships with external partners, engaging in strategic planning and program assessments, supervising and managing campus staff, while ensuring compliance with University policy and procedures.

Definition of Class

The University of Mississippi, a public, comprehensive, research institution located in Oxford, Mississippi, seeks an energetic, accomplished leader who has a record of success in working with non-traditional students, for the UM-DeSoto and UM-Grenada Campuses.  UM-DeSoto is located in Southaven, MS and UM-Grenada is located in Grenada, MS serving northwest Mississippi. The Director for the University of Mississippi DeSoto and Grenada campuses is in the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education, reporting through the Assistant Provost for Regional Campuses to the Associate Provost for Outreach and Continuing Education.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Provides leadership consistent with the Empower Now Strategic Plan and manages the day-to-day activities of the campuses 
  • Provides leadership in enrollment management and the recruitment process
  • Maintains and grows the collaborative relationships with the Community College partners with whom the campuses are associated
  • Develops and maintains dynamic, lifelong learning opportunities for people of all ages in the campus service areas
  • Nurtures a positive relationship with the communities, local businesses, and industries in the area
  • Prepares annual reports on enrollments, revenue, and expenditures for the regional campus. 
  • Develops and maintains campus budgets, including revenue projections, and manages fiscal affairs for the regional campus. 
  • Builds, manages, and leads a diverse team to achieve department/organizational goals.
  • Applies exceptional interpersonal skills and understanding of group interactions to establish positive collaborative relationships in diverse groups.
  • Responds to the needs of a diverse population of students to foster an inclusive community/environment
  • Communicates effectively with staff and external partners
  • Oversees hiring, guidance, and supervision of regional campus staff
  • Engages in strategic planning and program assessment
  • Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required

Essential Functions

  1. Directs the regional campuses and provides leadership in enrollment management and the recruiting process.
  2. Builds and maintains relationship with external partners.

  4. Supervises and manages the activities of regional campus staff.
  5. Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: 

Master's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field

AND

Experience: 

Four (4) years experience related to the duties described above

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
