The franchise was established in 1995 as the Vancouver Grizzlies and played six seasons in Vancouver, British Columbia before relocating to Memphis in 2001. The Grizzlies became the first major professional sports team from the “big four” major pro sports leagues to make its home in Memphis. From 2001-2004 the Grizzlies played their games in the Pyramid Arena at the banks of the Mississippi River. In the fall of 2004, the team moved to its current home at FedExForum.
Located in the heart of downtown Memphis next to the world-famous Beale Street, FedExForum has hosted the Memphis Grizzlies and University of Memphis Tigers since its 2004 opening. Since the $250 million arena opened in September 2004, millions of fans have enjoyed basketball games, concerts and events at FedExForum.
