DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

The core purpose of the DBD is to provide leadership in the business development process. On a macro level, this consists of identifying and generating proposals, estimating projects, negotiating and closing project deals and more.  The DBD works with Account Management and other departments to achieve the above, as well as achieve successful projects by better aligning sales and internal resources. Enhanced coordination, communication, and administration with all departments of the organization (Engineering, Field Operations, Project Management, etc.) to meet internal and external deliverables will be critical. The DBD will work closely with the COO and other upper management and will have all staff within the estimating department as reports.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Align the estimating and business development staff with DCI's mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives       continually
2. Cast a vision for the staff and lead the Business Development Department towards helping the organization         deliver successful projects (Safety, Timeliness, Execution, Quality, Profitability)
3. Execute (and continually improve) the proposal and estimating system
4. Recruit and retain professional and productive estimating and sales staff
5. Train estimators and business development staff to ensure success
6. Handle career development and performance appraisals for all estimating and business development staff
7. Locate or identify potential proposals by contacting potential partners and discovering and exploring     opportunities
8. Screen potential proposals by analyzing deal requirements, potential, and financials, evaluate options, resolve     internal priorities; recommend options for submittals
9. Coordinate and communicate with the Engineering, Project Management, and Field Operations departments and     others to better align sales and internal resources
10. Close new business deals by coordinating proposal requirements; developing and negotiating contracts;     integrating contract requirements with business operations
11.Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential
12 Participate in all Leadership Team discussions and functions; fulfill LT responsibilities
13.Lead, direct, and execute all business development financial duties (budgeting, estimating of certain CORs,     reporting, etc.)
14.Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications;      maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
15.   Maintain flexibility and strive to complete all other requests as directed by upper management
 
 

Education, Skills, and Experience

A minimum of a B.S. Degree in engineering, business, or similar
At least 7 years work experience in business development, estimating, account management, or upper management Proficiency in Google Apps, MS Office applications, PC and Mac software
Prospecting, sales planning, and closing skills; motivation for sales; ability to propose to customer needs and meet sales goals; market knowledge; high energy level; professionalism
Superior administrative capacity to manage multiple priorities at once
Strong interpersonal skills with proven teamwork, leadership, and a heart to serve

Position Information

Full-Time position; salary with benefits.
Work Schedule: 45+ hours per week minimum; nights and weekends as required to meet deadlines. Based out of the Memphis, TN office and will report to the COO
Occasional travel as needed
